In old brick masonry construction they often pocketed floor joists right into the masonry bearing walls interior and exterior walls.
When dealing with fire damage to these buildings would you ever go back with new joists bearing in the existing masonry pockets or would you come up with some other sort of connection.
Fit the end of the joist into the joist hanger with one narrow edge down so that the hanger fits up and around the two faces.
Drive one 1 3 4 inch tapcon style concrete screw through each hole using a cordless drill and a properly sized phillips screw bit tip.
